USED TO Yabancı Dil- II

Function: (Kullanımı) Geçmişte yaptığımız, fakat artık sürdürmediğimiz alışkanlıkları ifade etmek için kullanılır. Özneye göre formu değişmez. “used to” dan sonra gelen fiilin 1. hali (yalın) kullanılır. Yabancı Dil- II

Examples: (Örnekler) 1. I used to smoke a lot before I had an operation, but I don't smoke at all now. (Ameliyat olmadan önce çok sigara içerdim, fakat şimdi nerdeyse hiç içmiyorum.) 2. Our grandmother used to tell us stories when we were children. (Biz çocukken büyükannemiz bize hikâyeler anlatırdı.) 3. He used to have a small shop a few years ago, but now he has a factory. (Birkaç sene önce küçük bir dükkânı vardı, fakat şimdi bir fabrikaya sahip.) Yabancı Dil- II

Question Forms: (Soru halleri) Soru cümleleri ve olumsuz cümleler DID yardımcı fiili ile yapılır ve USED biçimi USE biçimine dönüşür. (Tıpkı Simple Past’taki gibi.) Yabancı Dil- II

Examples: (Örnekler) 1. Did you use to travel by bus fifty years ago? (Elli sene önce otobüsle mi seyahat ederdiniz?) 2. People didn't use to be so rude to each other ten years ago. (İnsanlar on yıl önce birbirlerine karşı bu kadar kaba değildi.) 3. How did you use to spend your holidays when you were a boy? (Çocukken tatillerinizi nasıl geçirirdiniz?) 4.
