Askerden itiraz (Objection by Military) Genelkurmay Başkanlığı, Sayıştay’ın TSK’da denetim yapmasını öngören taslağa karşı çıktı. Genelkurmay’ın verdiği değişiklik önergesinde, “TSK’nın verimliliği bu kriterlerle ölçülemez. Gizliliğimiz ortadan kalkar” ifadelerine yer verildi. Turkish General Staff objected to the draft which stipulates the audit of Turkish Armed Forces by Court of Accounts. The amendment motion submitted by General Staff stated that the efficiency of the Turkish Armed Forces could not be measured with these criteria and that this would violate the privacy of the military.

General Staff responded to the AKP government, which wanted to bring asset and performance auditing requirements through the Court of Accounts, by saying that the performance of Turkish Armed Forces could not be measured by the Court of Accounts and that a bylaw which includes privacy provisions should be passed for asset audit.

Askerden itiraz AK Parti grup başkan vekillerinin TBMM Başkanlığı’na sunduğu Sayıştay Kanun Teklifi’nin Plan ve Bütçe Komisyonu bünyesinde oluşturulan bir alt komisyondaki görüşmelerine başlandı. The talks on the Bill of Law, submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly by AK Party group deputy chairmen, commenced in a subcommittee formed within the scope of Planning and Budget Commission.

Askerden itiraz Teklife sert tepki gösteren Milli Savunma Bakanlığı ile Genelkurmay Başkanlığı temsilcileri, komisyona rapor sunarak, 6 değişiklik önergesi verdi ve katılmadıkları konuların düzeltilmesini istedi. Reacting strongly to the motion, representatives from General Staff and Ministry of Defense submitted six motions for amendment in a report presented to the commission and asked for adjustments.

“Dokunulmazlıkları hemen kaldıralım” Ozyurek: Let’s Abolish Immunity CHP Sözcüsü Mustafa Özyürek Republican People’s Party (CHP) Spokesman Mustafa Ozyurek

“Dokunulmazlıkları hemen kaldıralım” CHP Sözcüsü Mustafa Özyürek, Çelik’in AKP’li milletvekilleri hakkında dokunulmazlıklar nedeniyle bekleyen dosyaların çoğunun seçim suçları gibi önemsiz suçlar olduğu yönündeki açıklamasına, “Çelik, AKP’lilerle ilgili suç dosyalarının sayısı az ve önemsiz suçlarla ilgili olduğunu düşünüyorsa tüm milletvekillerinin dokunulmazlıklarını hemen kaldıralım gitsinler aklansınlar” sözleriyle yanıt verdi. CHP Spokesman Ozyurek responded to the statements by Celik who indicated that many of the cases about AKP MP’s pending due to immunity are divisible offenses such as election offenses. Ozyurek suggested that if Celik thinks as such, then abolishing political immunity for all MP’s would help them get cleared of any blame whatsoever.

“Dokunulmazlıkları hemen kaldıralım” Özyürek, yaptığı yazılı açıklamada AKP Genel Başkan Yardımcısı Hüseyin Çelik’in bugünkü basın toplantısında, TBMM’de suç dosyası olan milletvekillerinin partilere dağılımını vererek AKP’li Milletvekilleri hakkında 120 suç dosyası olduğundan bahsettiğini ve bu dosyaların çoğunun seçim suçları gibi önemsiz suçlar olduğunu belirttiğini anımsattı. In a written statement, Ozyurek reminded the remarks made by AK Party vice chairman Celik during a press conference today. Ozyurek stated that Celik, who gave the distribution of MP’s with criminal records in the parliament, said that there are 120 cases involving MP’s from AKP and that a majority of these cases are on divisible offenses.

“Dokunulmazlıkları hemen kaldıralım” “Mecliste bekleyen dosyaların içeriği Hüseyin Çelik’i yalanlıyor” diyen Özyürek, “AKP’lilerin ihaleye fesat karıştırmak, evrakta sahtecilik, nitelikli zimmet, kalpazanlık, dolandırıcılık, görevi suiistimal gibi ağır hapis cezasını gerektiren suçlar işledikleri anlaşılmaktadır. Pointing out that the contents of the cases pending in the parliament contradict Celik’s statements, Ozyurek expressed that MP’s from AKP committed crimes such as conspiracy to rig the bid, forgery of documents, aggravated embezzlement, counterfeiting, fraud, misconduct in office, all of which require heavy imprisonment.

“Dokunulmazlıkları hemen kaldıralım” Başbakan Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’ın hakkında zimmet, kamu taşıma biletlerinde kalpazanlık, evrak ve kayıtlarda sahtecilik ve cürüm işlemek için teşekkül oluşturmak suçlarından dosyalar bulunmaktadır. Bu suçlardan mahkûmiyet milletvekili seçilmeye engeldir” görüşüne yer verdi. Ozyurek added that the cases about PM Erdogan include embezzlement, counterfeiting public transportation tickets, creating a criminal organization for the purpose of engaging in criminal activity and that anyone convicted by a court of law for such crimes is ineligible to become a member of parliament.

Hukukçular: Evren yargılanamaz Hazırladığı anayasa değişikliği paketi için muhalefetten de destek almayı amaçlayan Ak Parti, geçici 15. madde sürprizi yaptı. Ak Parti, CHP’nin “Darbe teşebbüsü yapanları değil, darbeyi yapanları yargıla” söylemiyle gündeme getirdiği, 12 Eylül askeri darbesinin liderlerinin yargılanmasını engelleyen Anayasa’nın geçici 15. maddesini kaldıran düzenlemeyi pakete soktu. 16 Arlington man pleads not guilty in death of 5- week-old son ARLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A prosecutor says a Vermont man has pleaded not guilty to a manslaughter charge in the death of his 5-week-old son last fall. Russ C. Van Vleck of Arlington entered the plea in court Friday. State Attorney Erica Marthage says Van Vleck was released on conditions. State police say Van Vleck called 911 on Oct. 3 to report that his son, Colin, was unresponsive. The baby was pronounced dead at a hospital. Investigators say the 27-year-old Van Vleck was the only person with the infant at the time. The cause of death was listed as mistreatment at the hands of another. Van Vleck's attorney William Wright did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

The victim was a 15-year-old girl who prosecutors say was Jessop's underage bride. The 35-year-old Jessop was the fourth member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to be tried for sexual assault of a child since Texas authorities raided the group's ranch near Eldorado two years ago. The Texas Attorney General's Office says eight more suspects from the YFZ ranch are awaiting trial.

Trade Experts Warn Against Too Much WTO Litigation Timothy Reif, general counsel to the Office of the United States Trade Representative, stressed the importance of enforcement in U.S. trade policy, speaking at an American Enterprise Institute event on Tuesday afternoon. During his presentation, he outlined the basic tenets of the Obama administration's 2010 trade policy agenda, released March 1. Along with creating a stronger "rules-based trading system," the policy agenda, which comes on the heels of President Barack Obama's promise in the State of Union speech to double exports by 2014, also highlights the importance of encouraging economic liberalization and promoting U.S. growth into new markets. Reif said the United States needs to improve its bilateral relations with trading partners -- especially China -- to resolve trade disputes before taking them to the World Trade Organization. He noted that the WTO often takes up to three years to resolve cases.

2 Texas Attorneys Indicted in $20 Million Mortgage Fraud Case Two Texas attorneys are among 40 people indicted in connection with an alleged $20 million mortgage fraud involving 114 houses. On Tuesday, U.S. Attorney John M. Bales of the Eastern District of Texas announced the 16-count indictment in United States v. Barry, et al. Daniel Ayers and Anthony Flores, who owned and operated Ayers & Flores in Plano, Texas, are identified collectively in the indictment with a woman as "title company attorneys or escrow officers."

2 Texas Attorneys Indicted in $20 Million Mortgage Fraud Case The indictment alleges that Ayers and Flores "acted as points of contact between mortgage brokers, real estate agents and buyers and sellers of real estate in order to arrange, facilitate and monitor real estate closings." The indictment alleges the transactions involved inflated appraisals and straw buyers who provided false information on loan applications submitted to lenders. Shamoil Shipchandler, the Assistant U.S. Attorney prosecuting the case, says, "What we're alleging is that Ayers and Flores knew the representations being made to lenders were false and they knew the value of the homes were inflated." Ayers and Flores are indicted on one count each of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and 12 counts each of mail fraud.

How Privacy Vanishes Online If a stranger came up to you on the street, would you give him your name, Social Security number and e-mail address? Probably not. Yet people often dole out all kinds of personal information on the Internet that allows such identifying data to be deduced. Services like Facebook, Twitter and Flickr are oceans of personal minutiae -- birthday greetings sent and received, school and work gossip, photos of family vacations, and movies watched. Computer scientists and policy experts say that such seemingly innocuous bits of self-revelation can increasingly be collected and reassembled by computers to help create a picture of a person's identity, sometimes down to the Social Security number The F.T.C. is worried that rules to protect privacy have not kept up with technology. The agency is convening on Wednesday the third of three workshops on the issue.

How Privacy Vanishes Online In social networks, people can increase their defenses against identification by adopting tight privacy controls on information in personal profiles. Yet an individual's actions, researchers say, are rarely enough to protect privacy in the interconnected world of the Internet. You may not disclose personal information, but your online friends and colleagues may do it for you, referring to your school or employer, gender, location and interests. Patterns of social communication, researchers say, are revealing. "Personal privacy is no longer an individual thing," said Harold Abelson, the computer science professor at M.I.T. "In today's online world, what your mother told you is true, only more so: people really can judge you by your friends." Collected together, the pool of information about each individual can form a distinctive "social signature," researchers say.
