IF CLAUSE TYPE 2 Conditionals

Bu tür anlatımda if clause, konuşma anındaki hayali durumları izah etmede kullanılır. İhtimal payı yoktur, sadece cümleyi söyleyen kişinin o ana ait hayali ve farazi düşünceleri izah edilmektedir. Şimdiki zaman ve geniş zamanla ilgili durumlardan bahsedilirken kullanılır. Fiilin geçmiş zamanda olması sizi yanıltmamalıdır.

Bahsedilen olayın olma ihtimali ya çok azdır veya hiç yoktur ama zamanı henüz geçmemiştir. If clause, past clause main clause ise would / should, could, might, etc. dir.

Examples If it rained, we would stay at home and sleep till noon. If you didn't inform him, he couldn't get out of trouble. We might finish the work on time if they helped us.

Was / were ; he, she, it ve I ile kullanılabilirler Was / were ; he, she, it ve I ile kullanılabilirler. Fakat were daha yaygın kullanılan şekildir. If I were you, I would go to university and be a doctor.  If she were ( was ) a man, she might protect her family.
