What is Summer Training? This course aims to provide students with the opportunity to take part in a professional work environment. * Obtain a general view of the work environment, * Apply the knowledge and experience gained during their courses to real life problems. * Exposed to educational topics in technology, both from the technology development and teaching perspective, * Identify learning objectives in order to effectively utilize remaining education. This thirty day training period is undertaken during the summer break following the successful completion of the third year. Summer Training is: a non-credit course offered during every fall semester an important part of CTE Curriculum a graduation requirement
You have to complete your ST before you start your master courses!! Danger! If you do not complete your ST before you complete your courses, you will not be able to graduate on time and will have to register for an additional semester. You have to complete your ST before you start your master courses!!
Objectives of ST To take part in the business world and understand the requirements, To apply the knowledge and experience related with programming and/or computer environment gained during the first three year to a real life problem, To obtain a general view of the industry needs To learn about or experiment with various software/hardware, especially those which are not present in the curriculum.
Requirements for Application Students who do not have an F Grade from the courses CTE211 and CTE212.
ST Calendar Meet with students (February 28) Wait for students’ preferences (April-May) Assign companies to students (End of May) Approval by advisors (End of May) Write letters to companies (May-June)
Rules and Regulations Thirty (30) work days – six (6) week - in the same organization Week-end work not considered Programming project necessary Daily recording required Informing the department about all changes and problems: Company > Start and end dates Leave of absence > Medical reports
Evaluation Achievement of the goals Feedback of the organization Follow-up: calls and visits Summer Training File and presentation Advisor’s appraisal Decision of the Summer Training Committee
