2 The Derivative Suffix –lı (having, containing, with) Derivational, a suffix that is used to derive new words with new meanings, such as the suffix –er in the English word teacher. ( teach-) teacher. Knowing the general meaning and function of a derivational suffix will help you guess the meaning of any word to which that derivational suffix is added. The suffix –lı (-lı, -li, -lu, lü) is added to the nouns to form adjectives meaning with, having, containing.

11 The Derivative Suffix, -sız ( without, - less) The suffix –sız (–sız, -siz, -suz, süz) is added to nouns to form adjectives meaning: without, -less. In general, words with this suffix mean the opposite of words with the –lı suffix.
