THE IMPORTANCE OF MULTICULTURALISM ÇOK KÜLTÜRLÜLÜĞÜN ÖNEMİ

The Earth is a common field of living. Plants, animals, human beings have been living one within the other. The human society in the living creaures are supposed to live most harmoniously in the living creatures because they are bestowed mental boon. The human being is a creature who is a planning, setting up rules, enforcing the rules thanks to thought his/her mind. Jean Jacques Rousseau’s ‘The Social Contract’ is constructed on this base. However, unfortunately, ‘The children of the same father’ haven’t been able to form this harmony and they has poiled the present harmony very frequently. Yeryüzü bütün canlılar için ortak yaşama alanıdır.Bitkiler, hayvanlar, insanlar iç içe yaşamaktadır. Bu canlılar içerisinde en uyumlu yaşaması gereken topluluk insan topluluğudur çünkü onlara çok önemli olan akıl nimeti verilmiştir. Akıl sayesinde insan konuşan, planlayan, kural koyan ve uygulayan sosyal bir varlıktır. Jean Jacques Rousseau’nun ‘Toplumsal Sözleşme’si de bu temel üzerine kurulmuştur. Fakat ne yazık ki insanoğlu ‘aynı babanın çocukları’ bu ahengi oluşturamamış, olanı da çok sık bozmuştur.

The human beings had fought each other when there had been a few hundreds or a few thousands of people in the world. They had continued when they were a few millions. This fight had continued when they reached to a few milliard. Indeed, the world is large enough to be sufficient for all human beings in it as long as we can use it accurately, we can share it with justice, we can observe each other’s rights. Dünyada birkaç yüz veya birkaç bin insan varken insanlar birbiri ile kavga etmiş. Birkaç milyon olunca da devam etmiş. Birkaç milyara ulaşınca da bu kavga devam etmiştir. Aslında dünya bütün insanlığa yetecek kadar geniştir yeter ki doğru kullanabilelim, adaletli paylaşabilelim, birbirimizin hakkına riayet edelim.

After this much development, this much technological and scientific progress, we are supposed to show the ability to live brotherly and sisterly and, to share it with justice. The borders between peoples and coutries have been gone beyond; the world has become smaller with regard to economy, society and culture; in brief, globalization has imroved and will develop more and more. It is known that this way has no return but it is not known where to land up in the end. We have two ways: ‘The Clash of Civilizations’ which Huntington put forward or ‘The alliance of Civillizations’. There is only one way to eliminate the first disaster scenario: We have to manage the second. Bunca gelişmeden, bunca teknolojik ve bilimsel ilerlemeden sonra biz kardeşçe yaşama ve adil paylaşma becerisini gösterebilmeliyiz. İnsanlar ve ülkeler arasındaki sınırlar günümüzde aşılmış, dünya ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel olarak küçülmüştür. Kısacası globalleşme ilerlemiş ve gittikçe ilerleyecek, gelişecektir. Bu yolun dönüşünün olmadığı biliniyor ama sonunun nereye varacağı bilinmiyor.İki yol var: ya Huntington’ın ortaya attığı medeniyetler çatışması, ya da medeniyetler ittifakı. Birinci felaket senaryosunu bertaraf etmenin tek yolu var: İkincisini becermeliyiz.

The contact, meeting, accordance, alliance, fusion and mutual understanding of Civilizations that is multiculturalism is a phenomenon which humanity is supposed to design most beautifully. This goes down in coming to an understanding with the minimum common, basic values and, regarding the cultural diversities as our richness. The common, basic values have been discussed on different platforms, there have been approved common, basic values such as Kopenhag Criteria, Helsinki Final Act, The Constitution of Medina also known as the Charter of Medina, Prophet Muhammad's Last Sermon. Medeniyetler buluşması, uzlaşması, ittifakı,kaynaşması, yani çok kültürlülük insanlığın en güzel şekilde dizayn etmesi gereken bir olgudur. Bu insanlığın asgari müştereklerde, temel değerlerde anlaşıp farklılıkları zenginlik olarak kabul etmesinden geçer.İnsanlığın temel ortak değerleri değişik platformlarda ele alınmış, Kopenhag kriterleri, Helsinki nihai sözleşmesi, Medine vesikası,Muhammed’in a.s veda hutbesi gibi ortak kabul görenler olmuştur.

These are the major common values of humanity mentioned in these documents: The religious freedom, The mental security, The generation security, The life security, The property security. Bu belgelerde bahsedilen İnsanlığın başlıca ortak değerleri şunlardır: Din hürriyeti, Düşünce hürriyeti, Nesil güvenliği, Can güvenliği, Mal güvenliği.

I’d like to tell my regards to the paticipants with the wishes for the whole human beings to accept and obey the minimum common and basic values to construct a peaceful ‘Multicultural Union’.
