Technical Assistance for Increasing Primary School Attendance Rate of Children Commencement Date: October 2013 Completion Date : October 2015 Purpose: To increase the attendance rates in primary education which covers the first 8 years of the 12-year compulsory education in Turkey and to improve qualitative measures and interventions in this regard.

Project Components 1.To increase the capacity of MoNE personnel and to raise awareness of all related groups on the prevention of non-attendances, 2.To identify the measures that will strengthen the student monitoring system, to develop policy recommendations and to revise the legislation, 3.To promote basic language skills in children who do not have sufficient language skills at primary education level.

PILOT PROVINCES OF THE PROJECT Van (Ağrı, Hakkari, Bitlis, Siirt, Muş) Mardin (Bingöl, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Batman, Şırnak) There will be 10 pilot implementation schools in each province. In this context, all systems and products to be developed under this Project will be implemented in 120 pilot schools. There will be regional offices in Van and Mardin provinces.
