Konuşma anından önce başlayan, konuşma anında devam eden ve muhtemelen bir süre daha devam edecek olayları anlatmak için present continuous tense kullanırız. I am studying. (Ben çalışıyorum) We are learning English. (Biz İngilizce öğreniyoruz) He is watching TV.(O TV izliyor)

4 Süreklilik ifadesi meydana getiren "-ing" eki, eklendiği yükleme süreklilik manası katar. Yani eylemin bir süre devam ettiğini bildirir. Bazı fiillere "-ing" eklenirken, harf değişimleri olabilir. Şimdi bunları inceleyelim.

5 Sonu "-e" ile biten fiillerde, son harf düşer.

6 Bu tense ile en sık kullanılan zaman bildiren kelimeler; "now, at the moment, today"
The children are playing in the garden at the moment. My mother is cooking rice for dinner today. The pupils are sitting in the classroom now. He is studying for his exams this week. They are eating supper now. It is raining today.

7 Cümleyi olumsuz yapmak için yardımcı fiilden hemen sonra "not" sözcüğünü ekleriz.
I am not studying at the moment. I’m not studying at the moment. The cat is not sleeping now. The cat isn’t sleeping now. They are not listening to the teacher. They aren’t listening to the teacher

8 Soru cümlesi oluşturmak için de, yardımcı fiili öznenin önüne koyarız.
You are getting ready for school.  Are you getting ready for school? Isn’t the driver driving too fast? Are they watching TV at the moment? Aren’t we going to a movie tonight?

9 Bazı fiillerin anlamları continuous olarak kullanılmaya uygun değildir
Bazı fiillerin anlamları continuous olarak kullanılmaya uygun değildir. Bunlara "stative verbs" yani durum bildiren fiiller deriz. See, feel, cost, want, need, remember, think, understand, like, love, hate,dislike Bu fiilleri simple present tense ile kullanmak doğru olur. Olağan dışı durumlarda, continuous olarak kullanımlarına da rastlanabilir. I see a bird. The pillow feels soft. That ring costs a fortune.
