CARTOON A cartoon is a type of two-dimensional illustration, possibly animated.While the specific definition has changed over time,modern usage refers to a typically non realistic or semi-realistic artistic style of drawing or painting,an image or series of images intended for satire,caricature,or humor,or motion picture that relies on a sequence of illustrations for its animation. An artist who creates cartoon is called a cartoonist. The concept originated in the Middle Ages and first described a preparatory drawing for a piece of art, such as a painting,fresco,tapestry,or stained glass window.In the 19 th century,it came to refer to humorous illustrations in magazines and newspapers, and after the early 20 th century,it referred to comic strips and animated films.Cartoons were typically used in the production of frescoes.

TOM AND JERRY Tom and Jerry is American animated series of short films created in 1940,by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.It centers on a rivalry between its two title characters,Tom and Jerry,and many recurring characters,based around slapstick comedy.In its original run, Hanna and Barbera produced 114 Tom and Jerry shorts for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer from 1940 to 1958.During this time,they won seven Academy Awards for Animated Short Flim,tying for First place with Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies with the most awards in the category.
