Marriages in early ages are seen all over the world. Marriages under 18 are accepted as «child» marriages.
CEDAW - Article 16.2: Outlawing of child marriage The betrothal and the marriage of a child shall have no legal effect, and all necessary action, including legislation, shall be taken to specify a minimum age for marriage and to make the registration of marriages in an official registry compulsory.
24% of the child marriages are under 15. This fact states educational rights of the child brides are take away. They are forced to leave school and take care of their houses and children.
Child marriages are human rights violations. Statistically, one out of three in marriages are child brides. And in ten years’ time, 100 million child brides will be married off.
They are violated physically, emotionally, verbally and sexually by their husbands. When married off at an early age and uneducated, they cannot protect themselves.
I N TU R K E Y Unfortunately, daughters are financially seen as a burden by their families. They are married off for «başlık parası». It is the money given by groom’s family for the bride. If there is no complaint about it, the law cannot put into act. About 5,5 million child brides are married off.

Child marriages... doubles the problems and inequality of women.
Child brides... need to be given the chance to choose when and who they marry.
