Facts about SOSU C Independent educational college regulated by the Ministry of Education Vocational programs / Basic social and health care training programs Precourses /Social and health care, Level 1 & 2 /Educator assistents programs Duration: Precourses 20 weeks – Main courses up to 2 years and 3½ months Students: Age 16-65 / 1500 annual students (7000 persons) / Staff: 230 Funding, admission and special circumstances Fully funded by the Ministry Admission is free Most students in the main courses are employed by Municipalities SOSU C co-operates with 18 Municipalities and 1 County

Quality assurance – requirements from Ministry The college has to develope a plan for the quality assurance 1.Create a system for continuous internal quality developement and assesment. 2.The system must include procedures on how to self-asses. 3.The procedures for self-assesment ”has to ensure that selected areas are made subject to systematic and critical discussions - on the way the college plan and complete the education programs”.

Important knowledge in order to obtain quality - is knowing where you are - self-evaluation can provide this kind of information Self-evaluation is carried out on a pedagogical day We have a number of non-teaching days that involve all the teachers, who work together to discuss (evaluate) and improve a pedagogical theme. Results & benefits - The goal is improvement of the college through self-evaluation. - The effort itself may be useful to us (we do it not only because we are obliged to). - The critical discussions will lead to improve a (self)choosen pedagogical theme. Action Plan against Drop-out A yearly report to the Ministry shows last year’s results and next year’s efforts at SOSU C - aganist drop-out Use of Statistical data of student drop-out/student completion to set goals, we aim to achieve the following year Drop-out frequency no higher than 22/14 % (Precourses /Main level) The report is published on our homepage Feedback from the Minstry Presented to the board and discussed within the manager- and teachergroups
