1 COMPARATIVES ! İki kişi veya iki nesneyi bir özellik açısından karşılaştırırken kullanılır. The rabbit is fast. The turtle is slow. The rabbit is faster than the turtle. The turtle is slower than the rabbit.

2 İki nesne veya iki kişiyi karşılaştırırken sıfata “more” , “-er” ya da “-ier” getirilir.
Karşılaştırılan ikinci kişi veya nesneden önce mutlaka “than” kullanılır. Naim Süleymanoğlu is 147 cm. İbrahim Kutluay is 198 cm. N. Süleymanoğlu is shorter than İ. Kutluay.

3 ADJECTIVES( SIFATLAR)
1-One-syllable adjectives (tek heceli sıfatlar) : hot/big/thin/ large/long/safe/late/short/small/ high/clean/young/cheap/quick 2- Two-syllables adjectives (iki heceli sıfatlar): easy/healthy//handsome/tidy/happy/early/ boring/helpful/clever/crowded 3- Three and more syllables adjectives (üç ve daha çok heceli sıfatlar): Beautiful/careful/expensive

4 1-ONE-SYLLABLE ADJECTIVES(TEK HECELİ SIFATLAR)
A) Eğer sıfat tek heceli sıfat ise mutlaka o sıfat sonuna “-er” eki alır. long longer tall taller higher high short shorter

5 B) consonant(sessiz) + vowel(sesli) + consonant(sessiz)
seklinde biten tek heceli sıfatlar sonuna “-er” eki alırken sondaki consonant(sessiz) çift yazılır. Thin + er thinner Sad + er sadder Big + er bigger Fat + er fatter C) Eğer tek heceli sıfatın son harfi “-e” ise o sıfat sadece “-r” alır. late later large larger safe safer

6 2- TWO-SYLLABLES ADJECTIVES
Kıyaslama cümlelerinde iki heceli sıfatlar başlarına “more” kelimesi alırlar. Ancak bazı durumlarda “–er” ile de kullanılabilirler. C) Sonu “-y” harfi ile biten ve “-y” den öncede sessiz bir harf bulunan iki veya çok heceli sıfatlar da “-er” eki alırlar. Ancak “–er” eki gelirken “-y” harfi düşer ve “-i” eki getirilir. Tidy + er tidier Happy + er happier Easy + er easier Early + er earlier Unhappy + er unhappier
